Alex was born and raised in Greenville, North Carolina, and grew up taking family trips to the Wilmington area. He attended NC State University and graduated with a BS in Finance. While at NC State, he was very involved with Ducks Unlimited including two years served as the chapter president. After graduation he was determined to see more of the world, moving to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
He spent the next few years working as a bartender and honing a woodworking passion as a boat builder. That experience steered him in to becoming a mate on multiple charter boats which led to furthering his education and getting his 100-ton Captain’s License. His plans to continue a career as charter boat captain were derailed on September 6th, 2017, when Hurricane Irma, the largest recorded hurricane in Atlantic history, passed directly over St. John devastating the Virgin Islands. Alex’s house was one of the many homes destroyed in the storm. During the massive cleanup and rebuilding of the island, Alex formed a demolition company that worked on over 70 properties, mitigating mold and water damage.
Alex left the islands to pursue another love of his, live music. He moved to Boulder, Colorado, where he worked at two live music venues and also a company that did set design for music festivals. He loved the music industry and the snowboarding but the pull to return to the coast of NC and set down roots was too strong. He wanted to be closer to family and friends and Wilmington was just the place to be. When not working, Alex loves being on the water, board sports, and spending time with his recently adopted German Shepherd, Mack. Surrounded and supported by the unbelievably qualified Keith Beatty Team, Alex looks forward to assisting customers and friends with any of their real estate needs.
Amy grew up in small eastern North Carolina farm town called Clayton. Her love of animals was innate, as she grew up around horses, cows, and ducks. In 1991 she graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Hospitality Management. In 1998 she married John Zabriskie and worked in property management for years before having their son Zach. Amy stayed at home raising Zach until the last few years when real estate/property management started tugging on her heart again. She currently works as the executive assistant to Keith Beatty. She has a gift for design and does help families transform their house in to a home. John and Amy spend many weekends cheering on Zach at his baseball games. She has two spoiled rotten golden retrievers who love the beach! Amy loves exercising, including running half marathons and enjoys boating during the summer months.
“Amy is a true professional who is an absolute pleasure to work with. She was a great assistance in our purchase of our home at 213 Inlet Point Drive and the lot at 217 Inlet Point Drive. Amy did all the right things to make a property buying experience pleasant. We began our search several months before the final purchase. Even though we freely admitted to Amy that we were just looking for a future retirement home, she dedicated her time and effort to assist us as if we’re going to write a contract immediately. Since we were both working at the time, we were only available for our home search on the weekends and Amy cheerfully accommodated our availability whenever we asked. In addition, we found her advice and counsel extremely useful in every respect. We greatly appreciate Amy’s professionalism and positive attitude. She is an invaluable asset to the Intracoastal Realty Corporation. More importantly, she has become a friend we will always cherish.”

Met with Bill, sensed his honesty and integrity; asked him if he would work with us and we would eventually buy a house from him. Six months, about six trips, and after Bill filtering and showing us 60 – 70 homes we bought a beautiful home in Landfall. Our commitment and investment in Bill paid off handsomely. He then oversaw and was with us thought the administrative issues; offer, financial, legal, closing. What a wonderful process; and still occasionally Bill calls to see how we are doing and if we need local assistance with anything.”

Jessica (or “Jess” as she is known by many) was born & raised in the small farm town of Benson, North Carolina. Every summer her family spent time vacationing at her grandparent’s home on Topsail Island. Some of her favorite childhood memories were spent on the coast of NC and the ocean has always felt like her “safe haven.” So naturally, after graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Business, Jessica decided Wilmington was the perfect location to begin her career with the local Home Builder’s Association. There she was involved with the large scale projects such as the Parade of Homes and Sales & Marketing Council. This was her first of many opportunities to work directly with builders, contractors & realtors in the surrounding area. In 2005, Jessica joined the Intracoastal Realty family as an Agent Manager working directly under the Broker-in-Charge overseeing 80+ realtors and obtained her real estate license.
She continued her career path within the building industry as a mortgage loan processor and then with a commercial real estate & development company. These opportunities only continued to enhance her knowledge & experience throughout the Carolinas in the property management & development world. But her passion for the individual connection within residential real estate brought her back to Intracoastal Realty. Along with the opportunity to work for one of the Nation’s top real estate teams, it was an easy move to return to what she loved & so she joined the Keith Beatty Team. “I consider it an honor & privilege to be a part of such a wonderful team with an amazing presence in the community. I am blessed to be on Keith’s team & to be able to learn & work alongside such great people…it truly is like family. I guess we’re just one big Beatty Bunch!” In her spare time, Jessica enjoys gardening, reading, volleyball, boating, fishing, attending church on Sunday & spending time with her family/friends & four legged fur-baby, Lily. Jessica is an active volunteer with the Brigade Boys & Girls Club and serves as a committee member with the Eastern NC Make-a-Wish Foundation.
In the world of real estate, Jessica strives “to put my client’s needs first & listening is the key…I make every effort to check all the boxes on their dream home wish list!” Jessica is excited to begin helping you make that wish a reality! Should you have any questions or if I can be of assistance, please feel free to call me directly at 910-279-0256 or send me an email at Jwest@intracoastalrealty.com.
“Jessica West is what I would define as one of those rare young individuals. She displays characteristics of the kind of people from my generation that were considered professionals . She takes her career as a realtor very serious. Jessica is dynamic, energetic, determined , and eager to put together the very best fit for her client. She is loyal, dependable, and responsible. Jessica has qualities not seen in so many so-called realtors such as excellent communications skills, attention to the smallest detail, she keeps her promises, she makes time to be “there ” for the client. Jessica is not one of those part-time realtors, who work around their schedule. I know this because she has been my realtor as a buyer, and seller. Jessica is currently working on another property for me and I know she will have great success in finding just the right fit. In the real estate business I know of a very popular saying location, location, location…Jessica West has her own aphorism: Professional Professional Professional. Anyone who is ready to make one of the most expensive and important investments in their lifetime needs Jessica West as their realtor.”

“Buying a house on Topsail Island was a dream come true for my wife and I. We thought the process would be very difficult but in the end we would be very happy. We are very happy and thanks to Melissa the process was a breeze for us. Melissa did all the work, she handled every issue as if she were buying the house. Finding Melissa was by chance, her closing the deal was meant to be.”
“It is our pleasure to recommend Melissa Bachman as a real estate agent! She is the best in the business here in the Wilmington, NC marketplace. She worked diligently for us to sell our house and purchase our new home. We were under time constraints as we were moving to our preferred high school district and she worked tirelessly over the summer to make sure it all happened for us! I was most impressed with her contract negotiations and technological expertise. We were able to sign numerous documents on-line which was very helpful as my husband travels for work. She returned all phone calls and emails the same day and I know worked long hours for us into the night. All of this with a smile and great attitude. She kept us positive! If you are looking to buy or sell (or both) a home in the Wilmington market, look no further. Melissa is heads above the rest!”
Laura and Thomas Rollins
“Melissa Bachman is by far the best realtor I have ever worked with. Melissa has taken the time to understand exactly the type of properties I am interested in, monitors the MLS on my behalf and sends new properties for my review prior to them being displayed publically. She also has shown me several properties that aren’t even listed as she is in tune with the marketplace and knows of homes being sold by owners. This is critical for me as I grew up in a different state, currently live 3 hours from Wilmington and could never do this on my own. She is on time, professional, personable and full of detailed knowledge surrounding the unique needs of owning a home in a coastal community (something I am unfamiliar with). Her explanations of how to make an offer, the paperwork surrounding them and advice on marketplace approach have been thorough and on target. She is able to rapidly provide me property details that I am unable to obtain on my own in order to enable me to make sound decisions on appropriate price points and the potential costs of any given property. This includes utility costs, insurance, taxes, association rules and regulations, boat slips, CAMA nuances, floor plans and property lines. I could not imagine doing this on my own and would highly recommend Melissa to any person seeking to purchase a home in the Wilmington area.”

Having spent time early in my career in New Home Sales, I eventually transitioned into Long Term Property Management, which ranged from the marine industry and boat slips to residential homes. Now back on the New Homes side of the business, I believe the most important part of real estate is building relationships and developing trust! I was born and raised in High Point, NC, traveled the country as a flight attendant out of college where I lived in Washington, DC followed by Alexandria, VA, started a family in Cardiff By The Sea, CA and called that home for 12 years and then finally got smart and realized that there is no finer place to live than right here in Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington NC! I absolutely love living here. I chose to raise my three children right here for the last 12 years and I don’t ever plan to leave! The clear, clean ocean, the peaceful beaches, the friendly, laid back community and the simple living are just too hard to beat.
Once I had children, I gave up my position as a flight attendant to become a mom where I honed my skills as a chef, chauffeur, nurse, manager, negotiator, and problem solver! I worked hard at that job for 19 years, but as we know, all good things must eventually come to an end…My oldest daughter flew the coop last year to attend college in Santa Barbara, CA, her sister is leaving to become a Tar Heel in the fall and my 12 year old son is just too easy which has left me with lots of free time. I decided it was time to take on a new challenge and was lucky enough to be hired onto The Keith Beatty Team.
I can’t wait to help you find the perfect home so that you too can experience the joy that I feel every day from waking up in such an extraordinary area of NC. Maybe you already live in the jewel we have, but your needs have changed-a growing family who needs more space or perhaps, like me, you need to downsize as your children begin to leave the nest. Maybe you live in another beautiful city, but you dream of having a beach retreat? Whatever your needs may be, I am confident that I, with the support of my team, can help you find your dream home or can help you market and sell your current home. Please don’t hesitate to call or text me anytime on my cell phone at 910-524-4787. You may also email me at Tdas@IntracoastalRealty.com. Thank you and have a great day.

Valerie Vanhook was born in Raleigh, North Carolina but relocated with her family to Kure Beach in 2000. Attending school in the Wilmington area from 3rd grade thru college has earned Valerie the title of an area local. Growing up here in Wilmington she has gained an enormous amount of knowledge of the coastal area including, neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and local events making her the perfect person for all of your real estate needs. Valerie is very grateful to be a part of The Keith Beatty team working with one of the leading agents in the area, and with all of the successful and experienced team members. In her spare time Valerie enjoys going to the beach, being on the water, spending time with friends and family and her yellow lab, Ella.
“Valerie has been a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend her and would definitely use her again in the future. Valerie worked with me and my schedule on traveling out of state and would show me homes every time I came to town and even on the weekends which I thought was very thoughtful and caring. I plan to keep in touch with her in the future.”
“Valerie is a very intelligent and well informed agent. She was very responsive to my requests throughout the process and kept me updated from the search to the settlement.”
